In between the north and south end of Penang is where the Sungai Nibong Bus Terminal can be found. This is a newer bus terminal that sits not too far from the city center, Bukit Jambul, and the Penang Bridge so it is easy to get to by express bus or taxi. Opening in mid-2005, the new bus terminal is now called Terminal Bas Expres Sungai Nibong. The Sungai Nibong Bus Terminal serves all destinations within the country, so this is the terminal that most travelers will use. The only other option would be to take a bus to the Butterworth bus terminal, which is not much in comparison to Sungai Nibong Bus Terminal.
In fact, most of the express buses do utilize this terminal for both arrivals and departures. Most tourists love to spend as much time as they can in Penang because of the rich cultural climate that is made up of a combination of Europeans, Chinese, Indian, and Malayan people. People also adore Penang because of its world-class cuisine.
From the Sungai Nibong Bus Terminal, passengers can get to Georgetown in about 15 minutes by bus and to the airport in around ten minutes. Not only is the Sungai Nibong Bus Terminal conveniently located but it also offers various shops and a restaurant to spend some time at while awaiting the bus.
While most will agree that Penang is a wonderful place to visit, it is always a good idea to be cautious when traveling abroad. For this reason, always limit the amount of cash carried and be extra careful with cameras and binoculars. Keep an eye on luggage at all times, and always leave a copy of passports and important paperwork at home in the event of an unforeseen emergency.
