KTM ETS Train has extended service to Padang Besar

ETS Extended Service

A very good news for commuters and travelers going to the northern part of Malaysia from Kuala Lumpur, KTM has announced the ETS Train service extension to Padang Besar. KTM Electric Train Service (ETS) is reputable with its on-time departure, high-speed and new, stylish cabin design.

Please note that
1) ETS Gold Service refers to ETS train with limited stopovers (skipping some cities)
2) ETS Silver Service refers to ETS train by stopping at all stations.

Followings are some briefings of the new KTM ETS train services departing from Kuala Lumpur:

ETS Gold Service to Padang Besar
With slightly over 500km between Kuala Lumpur and Padang Besar, now passengers traveled by the new KTM high-speed ETS Gold Service trains from Kuala Lumpur (KL Sentral) to Padang Besar (Thai border), would shorten the journey time in half as compared to former intercity train. The KTM ETS train traveling speed is at maximum 160 km per hour.

For this fewer stopovers of ETS Gold Service, the train fare is slightly higher at RM 80 for adult and at RM44 for child. But the higher train ticket fare comes with benefits of shorter travelling time because of limited stopovers.

ETS Gold Service to Ipoh
Before the extension, KTM ETS train covers only route from Kuala Lumpur to Ipoh by stopping at all stations before terminating at Ipoh. This is known as ETS Silver Service from Kuala Lumpur to Ipoh.

With the new extension of ETS train service from Kuala Lumpur to Padang Besar, new ETS Gold Service from Kuala Lumpur to Ipoh is being rolled out at the same time. In fact, this ETS Gold Service from Kuala Lumpur to Ipoh is part of the journey of ETS Gold Service from Kuala Lumpur to Padang Besar.

This ETS Gold Service from Kuala Lumpur to Ipoh has fewer stopovers as compared to ETS Silver Service from Kuala Lumpur to Ipoh. Please note that ETS Gold Service charging higher fare for adult at RM35 and child at RM22, as compared to ETS Silver Service train fare for adult at RM25 and for child at RM17.

ETS Silver Service between Ipoh and Butterworth
This is the new ETS train service running between Ipoh and Butterworth with stopping at all stations covering stations like Ipoh, Tasek, Sungai Siput, Kuala Kangsar, Taiping, Kamunting, Bagan Serai, Parit Buntar, Nibong Tebal, Simpang Ampat, Bukit Mertajam, and Butterworth Penang. The train fare for this service from Ipoh to Butterwroth is at RM 23 for adult and at RM 16 for child.

Similarly, this is the new ETS train service running between Butterworth and Padang Besar with stopping at all stations covering stations like Butterworth Penang, Tasek Gelugor, Sungai Petani, Gurun, Alor Setar, Anak Bukit, Kodiang, Arau, and Padang Besar. The train fare for this service from Ipoh to Butterwroth is at RM 21 for adult and at RM 15 for child.
